The Chinese in Toronto became desperate and on Jan. 29th, the president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce telephoned Ambassador Yeung for help. Ambassador Yeung immediately went to Toronto on Jan. 30th to discuss the case with the Chamber of Commerce. On Jan. 31, he went to city council and argued the case with the mayor and also the head of the license commtee. It was rported in the English newspaper in Toronto fehat quite a few eldermen were against such a restriction. Ambassador Yeung would stay in Toronto until Feb. 6 for a meeting in the City Council.
