February 22There was a report on Feb. 9 that a law was set up in Manitoba to have all Chinese restaurants (without providing accomodation) in small towns and villages closed down. Ambassador Yeung had been in Winnipeg on Feb. 14 to discuss the case with the government. He had also gone to Saskatchewan to argue the case about Chinese employment of white females.There was a previous proposal in the Montreal City Council that all restaurants in Montreal had to pay $50 tax fperyear. Ambassador Yeung had tried his best to fight against it and eventually when the proposal was brought up in the Quebec Provincial legislature, it was overruled
