February 26 P.2 1) Saskatoon reported that in order to support the fund drive, aChinese Co. was going to transport/donate 120 pounds of butter. GranD Forksdonated $73.; - $30.05. Van. - more drama and musical performances.2) The Chinese Ambassador of San Francisco was going to be a secretaryand advisor for the Embassy in England. He would be replaced by Consul GeneralYip of Van., who in turn would be replaced by the 3rd secretary of the EnglandEmbassy, Chan. p.2 3) Discrimination - previously all Chinese patients were put in the basement of the public hospital. Recently, Mrs. Yip Y. Chow ( ) went to thehospital to criticize its discrminative system. Now Chinese were being moved up to the 5th floor to be treated equally with the whites.p. 3 4) Van. Sun reported an article by a reader who stated that discrimination against E. Asians should be advocated now. He suggested that whites should boycott E. Asians by refusing to go to places served by them, or buy anything from them.5) Nanaimo: fund drive drought relief. An association was set up after a general meeting was held. Fund raising agents were elected and a speech night was held. They talked about how the U.S. donated for the drought relief drive, (e.g. the president set up over 200 fund raising branches and encouraged the VIP's to help; the Red Cross donated $500,000, where as the Chinese ambassador of various places raised $1,600,000, and lastly Japanese government donated 1 million dollars.As a result, $83.50 was raised in Nanaimo and more was raised during the door to door fund drive.6) Fund was also raised in Trail - $49.7) CKT Cumberland - held a spring festival celebration on Feb. 20. Concurrently, CKT H.Q. president Lim L. Wing was in the district to celebrate the occasion. There were fireworks display, too.8) CKT Nanaimo - spring festival celebration was held on Feb. 20.
