August 7, 1922 (Monday)P.3 (1) The liberal party of Vancouver held a meeting on August 4 to discussthe exclusion of the Asians. The members were all in favor of imposing restrictive immigration laws on the Asians. They also planned to request the government to forbid the Asians from buying lands. The reason was that the Asians were obstacles to the whites. Moreover, their low standard of living and cheap labor in both industries and farmingcreated intense competition for the whites.
