For the past few weeks, a great number of new members were admitted into the association. Some enthusiastic members had sug- gested to raise funds for re-painting the association. A meeting had been held on Jan. 19 during which about 20 new members foined the assoc.led the admission cereminy after which he gave a talk on the history of Hung Mun. (Vancouver). A spring festival banquet was held on Jan. 20. About 100 people were present. Speeches concerning loyalty to China were made by Consul General Lim, (from Portland),, , &P.3 4) Chun Wah Commerce Association (Vancouver). A general meeting had beenheld on Jan. 20 to discuss the rights of the Chinese fruits and vegetables distributers ( ). Speeches were made by, , & . They advised allChinese retail businessmen and hawkers to safeguard the rights of their fellow Chinese distributors by doing business with them. It was well known that the white distributors, seeing that the Chinese merchants had an import of a large quanitty of lettuce and K£ celery, attempted to ruin their business by reducing the price. Thus, all Chinese should stand together to avert such a crisis
