July 17. ThursdayP.3 1. A group of Chinese crewmen on board a British official steamshipwere being discriminated against by the ReturningSoldiers Association. The Association demanded that the ship replace theChinese crewmen with the returning soldiers. It even appealed to theMinister of Marine Affairs; it also made a threat by stating that it wouldsend a protest to the longshoremen in England and France so that they wouldnot unload the goods onboard that ship when it arrived at either England orFrance (+ August 2, P.3 -- however, the white men failed in their discriminatoryactivities because the ship was now rented by a private company
