April 13P.I 1) A brief history of Chee Kong Tong byP.3 2) News from New Westminster: the E. Asian sawmill workers in the West Coast of Canada went on strike. They demanded shorter working hours, 9 hours/day but to be paid for 10. However, during the pay day, the workers discovered tha they were only paid for 9 hours. Evenutally, the Chinese, Japanese and Indian workers demanded 8 hours/day with 10 hour pay. When the employers refused, they had a united demonstration on April 9th. The employers had to consent to their demand and they would resume work on April llth
