February 6P.2-3 1) The Chamber of Commerce held general meeting, and reps, all agreed the issue of the E. Asians immigration should be dealt with first. They asserted that E. Asian immigrants had affected tremendously the agricultural field. The rep. from Vernon, Mr. said that and vicinity were being exploitedby E. Asians because after so many white residents had gone to fight in the war, The E. Asians had then started to buy land, develop realty and estabalish commercial set-ups to compete with whites. They were going to buy the best orchard in which meant that the power of the E- Asians wouldincrease in the area. He was scared that if the E. Asians were not excluded, they would harm the district. He suggested the government prohibit further immigration and also forbid E. Asians to buy or rent land. A minister of also seconded the suggestion of Mr.Other reps, suggested that a thorough investigation should be conducted on E. Asians who led a completely different way of life. They complaned that there always overcrowding in E. Asian residences.p.2-3 1) Another rep. suggested bo7cotting E. Asians by terminating commercial dealings with them. Also there was a suggestion to test the educational standing of the immigrants so that only the qualified ones were admitted. Lastly, they decided to elect a 5-man committee to write a sketch of E. Asians issue for discussion on the future.p.3 2) CRT Calgary - admission ceremony Jan. 31. The new members enlisted to Dart Coon Club. 3) Public Hospital fund raising bureau in Vancouver made an announcementon Feb. 4, that donations would have been terminated on Oct. 15 1919, however there were still a few hundred dollars to be collected A meeting had been held on Feb. 1 when they decided to collect all funds before March 1, those who registered to donate should hand in the money by deadline otherwise their names would be published in the newspaper and they would also be cancelled out from the donation list
