Canadian Gov't ordered it to dissolve in 1918, which resulted in freezing of the association affairs. In order to revive the union, they had decided to organize the union into several committees, e.g.Railway, Agriculture, Mining, shingle, sawmill, barber, laundry, carpenters, tailoring, fishery/ cannery, newspaper, general affairs, etc. The union was a classless one, all Chinese were welcomed and could become members if they paid $2 admission fee and 25<? monthly
