The Chinese shingle factory workers had gone on strike for more than a month and the boss had planned to hold a meeting on April 7 to abolish the contract that required the reduction of salaries. A manager of a factory ineven visited the Chinatown and pleaded with the workers to return to their jobs on April 8. The Chinese workers would hold a meeting on April 6 to discuss the case. P.3 2. The C.K. headquarter had paid the 2nd payment of its debt. On March 31,handed to the creditor $5,000(the interest). It was reported that the headquarter could clear out the debt after the 3rd payment.3. Ottawa released news concerning the immigration issues on April 4th. Due to the unstable employment rate in B.C. the government had decided to extend the period of absence from Canada for the immigrants who left B.C. between April 1914 and March 31, 1919. Those Chinese who left Canada between the above period could come back to Canada freely within one year of announcement of peace.4. The overseas Chinese in Vancouver had established a new Chamber of Commerce. A new constitution was set up and posted out for reference
