September 14, 1922 (Thursday)P.3 News from Victoria: The School Administration Department held a meetingon September 13 to discuss the question of separating the Chinese students from the white ones. The representatives had been very sophisticated by avoiding using the word "Chinese", so that they would not be attacked for discriminating against the Chinese. The conclusion made in the meeting was that the special school which was situated at the junction of "^ -If ^Ci^ 'i'1-^ and "A" \ )t\ Vi,._\ , wasestablished primarily for admitting the following types of students: a) those who might interfere with the education of others because of their poor standard in English.b) those who lived near "'-^^ -\ V ^ ' - S and -^ \ }^\ -{~i "^ should go to that special school in order to avoid overcrowding in certain schools. c) those who were over 10 years old with very limited knowledge.d) those who did not know English, no matter how old they were would be admitted to that special school.e) those who had failed the admission test for going into the ordinary elementary school could go to that special school.f) those elementary school students who were over 16 and those intermediate and high school students who were over 17 could be admitted
