The Chinese times
The Chinese times (Vancouver, B.C.)
June 13P3 1) A Chinese was caught selling drugs.2) A Chinese store was caught for opening on Sunday.3) News from Winnipeg. The association for protest against the immigration law again was set up despite the disturbance by a few members. Election for executives was held again. In order to avoid trouble, 6 executives were elected to do the word of the president. (Previously, ever since the associatior was set up, the president had been changed twice and-that many executives resigned as a result of the attack by a few villains.)4) The 27 Chinese living in Caribou had raised $31 to support the protest against the restrictive immigration law. The money was sent to the ChineseTimes which would redirect it to the association for protest in Vancouver.Pll 5) The Chinese Representative Committee for Protest against the Restrictive Immigration Law had asked the Chinese to go on strike and demonstrate on June 14, as a form of protest. But some believed that this was an ineffective act because representatives had already been sent ko Ottawa to protest, the government thus had known that the Chinese were dissatisfied. Moreover, the Canadian government would not issue the permit for a demonstration and if the Chinese did it by force, this would only bring them to a disadvantage
